Summary :
The book Cinderella Man
by Marc Cerasini is about the boxer Jim Braddock , his wife Mae , his manger
Joe Gould , and a fighter Max Baer .
First, In 1928 , The American economy was strong . Braddock was in his best
situation , he was famous . he did a fight with Grifftiths - a Big Champion
-And he won with a Knock-down punch , it was the 18th in his professional
fighting He got a lot of fans . He was very lucky. Then, In 1929 , American
economy was getting down . Most of people don’t have
a Job. And Braddock starts losing his money , and losing fights .Then, In 1933
he had no more money , he went with his wife Mae and his children to a poor
neighborhood . His situation was really bad . Finally he found a job with few
dollars to earn . After that, His manger came to him and offer him one more
fight at the ring against a good young fighter . With around 200$ prize .His
wife was worried , But he accepted it . And he won the fight , then he bring
him another fight and he won the second fight. Then, He was doing progress . He
had a chance to Fight with Max Baer , a Famous heavyweight champion who has
killed two men in the ring .The news paper called him Cinderella Man People was
saying that if he won , he will help poor American people .
His wife Mae was begging him not to go to the fight
. But Jim continues his training . She went to pray in the church . And she saw
the poor people are hoping him to win to help them . So she went him just before
the match and give him a new pair of shoes to let him know that she supporting
him .That night Jim enters the ring for the most important fight of his life .
In the end , He was fighting , and it took a long time , he was fighting and
fighting stronger when he remember his family . Finally , he won , and he
returned to his family in New Jersey who were really worried about him .
Opinion :
I like this story because it was so
interesting , and very exciting . however, i didn't like the end of story
because as you know i don't like stories that end with the victory of the hero
. so, I was hoping to lose Jim .
