Cell Phones: Good and Bad Sides__Faten

Summary:

Although Cell phone recently becomes widely used by all generation, it is a technology that has two sides. Many people oblivious the disadvantages of the cell phone, they believe that the cell phones have no bad effects. Here at this paper, I will discuss both the benefits and the harmful effects. First, there are many benefits of cell phones. Here are some of:

Cell phones help you to be connected. Cell phones change people live. In the past, people used to call their families and friends by standing in long line, spend long hours waiting for making STD or ISD call. Also, It Provides the benefit of sending messages which people can use when they can’t attend a call. Next, cell phones used as navigation. Recently, the cell phones are equipped with navigation and GPRS system. It helps people to find their way if they lost, and give the details about where they are. Another benefits come from the cell phones that it helps in legal matters. The police get the benefits of the cell phone to track the criminal by tracking the criminal’s cell phone to determine his place. The fourth benefit is, Cell phones can be used as entertainment tools. People can watch their favorite programs, News, Movies, listen to music, take pictures, recording videos, and play games in their cell phones.

Nuclear Energy in our life ! - Abdullah Alamri

Nowadays, technology becomes a major aspect in our life. Make our life going so fast and easy in some way. We create much technology proudest every year which is making us asks what will happen in the future by this much of technology. Many people don’t think every technology can be useful and helpful. However, some technology has many harmful effects, so they have become controversial. The following tow lists are about the positive and negative aspects of nuclear technology.

Advantages of Nuclear Technology (1)

 1-Radioactive Waste

2. Powerful and Efficient

3. Reliable

4. Cheap Electricity

5. Low Fuel Cost

Disadvantages of Nuclear Technology (2)

1. Radioactive Waste

2. Nuclear Accidents

3. Nuclear Radiation

4. High Cost

Video Games - Abdulah Alzayer

The Technology now is something important in our life, because it helps us and makes our life better. Nevertheless, There are some technology have to become controversial. For example, Video Games, which some people think that the video games are something bad for kids and they make kids more aggressive. On the other hand, some people think that the video games improve a lot of thing in kid's life.

There are some benefits of video games such as : games improve the skills in the kids, games teach the kids another them language, games teach kids how to solve them problem, video games keeps every one happy. These are some of benefits of video games, but there are more.

There are some people say that video games is not good for kids, and they have some reasons for such as play video games too much makes kids socially isolated, some video games teaches kids wrong things, if the kids play online , maybe they will learn bad word from the guys who play with them, and if the kids play too much, they will get bad grade in school.

Gaming video or computers has positive as well as negative effects. Anything in moderation is not a problem. Parents and children need to be able to decide how much gaming is permissible and what kind of gaming.

I think video games is Double-edged sword, if the parents teach them kids how to play with the right way, they will get a lot of benefits without harm things. So it depends on the family, but i think the benefits of video games are more than harms. There are many benefits of video games such as games improve the skills in the kids, games teach the kids another them language, and Sometimes possible to be a source of income.

“Guys, Your Smartphone Is Hurting Your Sperm” - Summary _ Natalia Carolina Camargos Ferreira

Summary
“It may be time to take the cellphone out of your pants pocket, gents”. This is the advice given by Alice Park, author of the article “Guys, Your Smartphone Is Hurting YourSperm”. As explained by Park, cellphone can cause harmful effects for the body, especially for the cell functions, because they emit low-level electromagnetic radiation (EMR).  According to the article a new research, analyzing previous studies, shows that sperm   samples exposure-to-cell-phone EMR lowered the mobility by 8% and mobility by 9% . This result can be explained by the fact that the man carry their cellphones in their pant pockets and this exposure to the EMR can  bring about an increase of temperature (up to 2.3 Celsius degrees) of the skin. This change in the temperature can significantly interfere with the hormone production. The author also mentions that how much the cellphone is harmful isn't totally clear yet. Thus, the best thing to do was to try to keep the cellphones away for the maximum time that you could in spite of this is a difficult thing to do in practice.
Comments

Cellphone are essential nowadays. It’s difficult to imagine our life without them nowadays since the time we wake until the time we go to bed, they are beside us. The cellphone allows that we can talk to everyone in any place of the world. They also allow us to have access to our email and research sources all the time we need. Without doubts, the cellphone is a very useful invention. However, some studies suggest that use of the cellphone can have causing bad effects in our body’s health. The main reason is because the cellphone works because of the electromagnetic radiation, and this one point that already is not so clear. Thus the best thing to do is to use the cellphone moderately. This way we avoid  the harmful effects of the cellphones.

Using nuclear technology good or bad---------Henry

How is Nuclear Energy Produced?

Nuclear energy is produced when an atom's nucleus is split into smaller nuclei by the process
called fission. The fission of large atoms, such as Uranium 235 and Plutonium 239, produces a great deal of energy. In fact, the fission of 1 gram of Uranium 235 produces the same amount of energy as the combustion, or burning, of 3 tons of coal (1)! The energy produced by the fission of uranium or plutonium can be harnessed to produce electricity, to propel space craft, and to power weapons like the Atomic Bomb.

Unlike a traditional coal-burning power plant, a nuclear power plant uses the energy, or heat, produced by the fission of Uranium, rather than the burning of coal, to heat water into the steam required to turn the turbines that power electric generators. The advantage of using Uranium over coal energy is that, unlike for coal, Uranium fission does not produce soot and potentially harmful gases such as Carbon Dioxide. However, like coal, Uranium is mined and then processed before it can be used as an energy source. Also, like coal, the different mining and processing steps, as well as the actual energy production, produce a great deal of waste. Unlike coal, however, these wastes are radioactive, and thus more difficult to handle.--------from internet

Good points
1.  There is a slight risk of accidental contamination.
2.  Not a lot of people have died because of nuclear power plants.
3.  Cleaner then fossil fuels
5.  Nuclear power plants have prevented 219 million tons of sulfur dioxide and 98 million tons of nitrogen oxides from being discharged into the atmosphere since 1973.
6.  In early 1998 the Natural Resources Defense Council, a leader in the battle against air pollution, reached a landmark agreement with New Jersey's Public Service Electric & Gas. The Natural Resources Defense council agreed to support the Newark-based utility's full recovery of investments in nuclear plants and other facilities that might be "stranded" by electricity deregulation. In turn, the utility said it would expand its energy-efficiency program.

Bad Points
 1.  Dangerous if it melts down.
 2.  Chance of contamination
 3.  Deadly
 4.  Cleaner forms of energy can be formed, if more work was put into them, like fusion.

Nuclear Power Technology_Kate

Nuclear technology is technology that involves the reactions of atomic nuclei. Among the notable nuclear technologies are nuclear reactors, nuclear medicine and nuclear weapons. It is used in smoke detectors and gen sights.
I’m going to describe you about nuclear power which is about weapons.
There are many benefits of nuclear power.
The main advantage of nuclear power has over other method is that is a clean way to produce energy.
It does not result in any poisonous gases like carbon dioxine, sulfer dioxine or nitrogen dioxine.
The nuclear waste is not only small quantity but also remains confined  that is not affect anyone in its surrounding. It would be as small as a golf ball. The disposal of nuclear power waste is easier than chemical waste because it is only jump dumped into a geological site that has no negative impact in the ecosystem. Nuclear power is very safe.
It’s an extremely dependable source of power because most of nuclear reactors have a life cycle of 40 years.
The biggest fear with nuclear power is the fear of radiation. If there is a nuclear power plant near your business or home. The amount of radiation emitted from a nuclear power plant is less than 1 millirem per year. Workers inside of the nuclear power plants are limited to the amount of radiation so that they are exposed and are monitored for safety. People would be surprised to know that radiation can be advantageous to our health. The nuclear power is being support by many ecological organizations and environmentalist.

What are the disadvantage of nuclear power?
Nuclear Accident : The risk associated with nuclear accident are relatively high. People who work at nuclear power plants live near nuclear station so they have high risk of facing nuclear radiations if nuclear accident happens.
High cost : Nuclear energy needs a lot of investment to set up nuclear station. Nuclear power plant normally take 5-10 years to construct ,and it is opposed by people who live nearby.
Non Renewable : Nuclear power uses uranium which is limited resource. Uranium is not find in many countries.Supply will be available as long as it is there. Nuclear plants will not be of any use. It can not be term as renewable.

The consequences of global climate change___Lei Chen

Summary

In the article, “The current and future consequences of global change”, the author explains that Global climate change will cause all kinds of effect. First, the author says that according to scientists’ forecast, global change will lead to a lot of disasters. Primary reason is human activities which engender abundant greenhouse gas, so that temperature increased. Secondly, the writer shows that IPCC thinks that environment will base on climate change to adapt or to change. The reason is that less than 1.8 to 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit increased not only has some bad effect, but also has a little bit benefit. Third, the author shows that global changes forecast based on IPCC in order to slow down global warming. The IPCC claims that as temperature increased, management cost will consistently increase. Fourth, the writer shows the forecast of global. North America will be decreased 5-20% snowpack. And Latin America can occur species extinction. Europe can cause many floods, storms and glacial retreat. In addition, in Africa, plenty of crops will be destroyed. In the Asia, droughts and disease can influence people life. In the end, the author uses two forms to explain recent and impacts and future trends of global climate change.

Comments

As economic and society develop, global warming has become a hot topic in the world. If this problem does not be solved, human will face a huge disaster. The car and factory discharge countless carbon dioxide. Plenty of plants, forest are destroyed. Natural self-control cannot follow development of human. So what can I do?

From TV, magazine, internet and so on, everyday we are able to see a lot of AD or discussion, however, nobody care about it. Just saying, but do not real do it. As population constantly increasing, government has to sacrifice environments in order to supply the demand of people life. On the other hand, a sense of environmental protection needs to develop.

As a university student, I suggest that first, government should enhance to supervise. Second, education system should train children sense of environment. Third the adults should have a sense of crisis. Nowadays development of society based on descendant environments. Don’t give descendant an evil environment.

The Harmful Effects of Sunlight sarah

The Harmful Effects of Sunlight

Ozone layer depletion reduces our atmosphere’s natural protection from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation. That depletion will lead to increase the ultraviolet (UV) radiation that you can’t see or feel.

It affects human health both positively and negatively. The (UV) radiation has many effects to the human health both positively and negatively. Especially for people who spend unprotected time outside home .in this summary I will explain the effects that could happen because of these radiation .Such as , Skin cancer ,Cataracts ,Suppression of the immune system and Premature aging of the skin.

First of all, skin cancer is unnatural growth of skin cells .that leads to form malignant tumors. All that happened because of the ultraviolet radiation that person exposed himself. According to, American cancer society, More than 3.5 million cases of basal and squamous cell skin cancer is diagnosed in USA each year. Melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, will account for more than 76,000 cases of skin cancer in 2014. They notes skin cancer is the most common of all cancer. Exposure to UV radiation is the most important environmental factor in the development of skin cancer. The skin cancer is a dangerous disease that could lead the Infected to die. Second effect, Cataracts or eyes damage, the sun is the only source of UV radiation which could damage our eye tissues if we exposed to the sun for a long time without any protection. Also sun radiation cause Suppression of the immune system  the Scientists believe sunburns can affect in alter the distribution and function of disease fighting white blood cells in humans for up to 24 hours after exposure to the sun. As a result, Repeated to much to UV radiation can cause more damage to the body's system. Finally, premature aging of the skin is the easier disease could happen to a lot of people. Staying overexposure to the sun changes the texture and weakens the properties of the skin. Actually, Premature aging of the skin is cumulative of gain the skin cancer that means you have to be more careful and start a sun protection program.

Effects of air Pollution- Mohammad Alarji

Summary:
According to the article,’’ Effects of Air Pollution.'' by,'' http://eschooltoday.com/pollution/air-pollution.''  Air pollutants can be in the form of particulate matter which can be very harmful to our health. The level of effect usually depends on the length of time of exposure, as well the kind and concentration of chemicals and particles exposed to. Short term effects include irritation to the eyes, nose and throat, nausea and allergic reactions. Short term air pollution can aggravate the medical conditions of individuals with asthma and emphysema. Long term health effects can include chronic respiratory disease, lung cancer, heart disease and even damage to the brain, nerves, liver or kidneys. Continual exposure to air pollution affects the lungs of growing children and may aggravate or complicate medical conditions in the elderly.

Comments:
Solution efforts on pollution are always a big problem. This is why prevention interventions are always a better way of controlling air pollution. These prevention methods can either come from government (laws) or by individual actions. In many big cities, monitoring equipment has been installed at many points in the city. Authorities read them regularly to check the quality of air. Government or community level prevention; governments throughout the world have already taken action against air pollution by introducing green energy. Some governments are investing in wind energy and solar energy, as well as other renewable energy, to minimize burning of fossil fuels, which cause heavy air pollution. Governments are also forcing companies to be more responsible with their manufacturing activities, so that even though they still cause pollution, they are a lot controlled. Pollutants facts companies are also building more energy efficient cars, which pollute less than before.

Individual Level Prevention; pollutants facts encourage your family to use the bus, train or bike when commuting. If we all do this, there will be fewer cars on road and less fumes.

Cause and effect of popular McDonald in China - Yi Yang

Today, i read an article in Google which is about some negative news of McDonald in China.
Since the first McDonald in China was opened in 1990 in Guangdong province, it has already been ran for 24 years or so. There are about approximately thousands of branches in today's China. From the data, we can see McDonald is quite popular here. But something unexpected happened recently. The supplier Husi of McDonald used deteriorated meat which disappointed all of Chinese consumers. Therefore, McDonald has stuck in dilemma. Now, some of branches are being stopped doing business for internal rectification.

This article reminds me to think what made McDonald so popular in China and how can the supplier of McDonald in China hurt people with our trust? Maybe we need to go back to 1990 and think about it. At that time, the trade was not very developed between China and other countries, international tourism was not popular as well. Therefore, almost all of Chinese didn't have chance to taste western food, while McDonald came. People strove to be the first to taste it, to experience another kind of cuisine with fresh feeling. Cheese, beef patty, french fries, pickled cucumber and some other dishes which were not frequently to see in China. "It tastes good!" Almost every consumers gave the positive feedback after tried it. What's more, the price of McDonald was affordable among Chinese people. All of above items built McDonald a solid fundamental in China. Therefore, more and more branches appeared, more and more consumers chose McDonald.
But you know every sword has two blades. If an institution only pay attention to their profit and scale blindly, while ignore quality and service. Do you think it it s a successful institution or do you think the institution could go a long way? The answer absolutely not. McDonald in China is a good example. The supplier used a fluke mind that McDonald has been so popular and successful so there is no need to adhere 100% good quality. Even if the facts were exposed, there were no threat for them because they used to be such a big institution. But they were wrong. From the link we could see that the prior problem Husi needs to face is to rebuilt trust of consumers and customers. Maybe Chinese people won't give a chance, but whatever the consequence is, Husi deserves it. It shouldn't abuse our trust, earning money while providing us deteriorated meat.
